Brendan's 4th Birthday Celebrations!

Celebration #1: Party in Kentucky!

There is nothing better than seeing a child's face bursting with happiness and excitement!
MaMaw and PaPaw surprised Brendan with a cake and presents!  He was thrilled to get to celebrate his birthday in Kentucky!

Check out the adorable anticipation
Hadley needed a turn at the candles after Brendan was finished
Wahoo!  My two favorite things all in one: video games and Star Wars.

I love birthday parties at MaMaw and PaPaw's! It is not even my big day, and I got a present!

Celebration #2: Birthday Morning
Brendan only asked for one thing this year: a fishing pole.  When he woke up on his birthday, the birthday fairy had placed it by his bed along with a few new legos.  He was thrilled!

Grandma DARling and Grandpa John also combined two of his favorite things: legos and pirates!  As you can tell, he was super excited to open their present.

Celebration #3: Brendan's Pirate Party
This party was sooooo fun to plan!  For the first time ever, Brendan actually planned it with me every step of the way, thus making it so much more fun, special, and memorable.  He picked out the costumes for the guests, the design for the cake, the games, and emphatically insisted that Captain Hook make an appearance! The party was a blast!

Intimidated?  You should be.

Walk the plank, Matey!
Simple, yet splendid, this activity was a huge hit.

The highlight of the party was certainly the arrival of Captain Hook!  He sprang unexpectedly from behind the bushes and all of Brendan's fellow pirates were called to defend our ship!
The battle grew more and more intense!
Captain Hook began to get weak...
Down he went...
Captain Hook defeated.
In the words of Brendan, "The good guys always win."
Thanks to a little magic, Captain Hook was raised from the dead a reformed man and joined the good guys for pictures.
Happy Birthday, Brendan!!!
We were told to all say, "Argh!" but I think I might have been the only one that took it seriously...
We served pirate food
Played "Pin the Treasure on the Map"
And then Captain Hook and his side-kick took the pirates on a treasure hunt
It was an intense treasure hunt, complete with crawling and discovering Golden Blooms
The cake was AMAZING!!!!  My friend Jean Daugherty made it, and I was sooooo excited when I saw it. Thanks, Jean!

Present time!  And yes, Hadley had begun to strip. He tends to do that a lot lately...

Brendan enjoyed a fabulous birthday and still, several months later, tells me he wants to have another pirate party next year, just like this one.
